Gay Porn is now so easy to come by, a quick search on google can find a huge range of porn sites, both free and paid for that it is easy to forget some of the early frontrunners of this delicious genre of movies.

The earliest known hardcore gay porn film was probably made by the French and was called Le ménage modern du Madame Butterfly, released in 1920. Between the early thirties and the sixties lots of gay pornography was produced but it was difficult to distribute as it was illegal, so much of the footage was available by word of mouth or mail order for those in the know only. By the sixties underground filmmakers like Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey were creating experimental underground movies with a lot of gay subtext or even overtly gay content, including Scorpio Rising (1963), Blow Job (1964), My Hustler (1968) and Flesh (1968). These were the front runners to the later more traditional gay porn movies which grew in popularity and distribution after the sixties sexual revolution as both attitudes and laws towards both pornography and homosexuality started to relax.
